How We Care For Our Gear

From Top to Bottom in our Gear Care Blog

HELMET
Your motorcycle helmet deserves the every care and concern that you have for your bike. It may be full face, open face, coloured, plain, matt or shiny.  Whatever make, design, features or price you pay for your head protection you will not be going anywhere on your motorbike without this most functional requirement .

Storage
Giving your helmet its own special place is good practice. You choose a place with easy access for quick retrieval, a dry well ventilated spot where it will not get knocked around. A shelf that the kids don't get to, an airy cupboard close to the garage.  You do not keep your gloves inside your headgear. This is definitely not good for the gloves and it will not give your helmet padding the best chance for longevity. You will keep your helmet in a box or bag if you are not using it daily.

Cleaning
A clean cotton cloth with mild soap and warm water will give a good result without too much rubbing.  The shield can have the same treatment.  Rick's Tip; If you do not have a fog free visor or pin lock apply a tiny bit of shaving foam rubbed on the inside to keep it from fogging up.

The padding inside should be removed if it is getting greasy or grimy or smelly or just hmmm. Mild soap rubbed into the top of padding. Soak in clean warm water. No more than 1/2 hour. Gently rinse. Lay on a towel in a safe dry place until completely dry.  Not in hot sun as this is not good for the plastic backing. Put the padding back in your helmet as soon as possible to keep it safe and in shape.
